Shaun Murphy
SHAUN MURPHY WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPION 2005 - in 2005, Shaun became the World Snooker Champion, and the first qualifier to win the title since 1979. His rise to the top of world snooker has been dramatic. Shaun turned Professional in 1997 at the age of 15. In 2000/01 Shaun was named a World Snooker Young Player of Distinction after clinching both the Amateur English Open and B&H Snooker Championship titles. Following this achievement, he was awarded the prestigious title of World Snooker Newcomer of the Year 2000/01. Shaun played in the World Snooker Championship for the first time in 2002, finally clinching the title in 2005. Shaun is now established as one of the main contenders within world snooker, whilst also being recognised as an inspirational and entertaining speaker who has both a lively and engaging style.
Shaun has made a rapid rise to the top of the world game, maintaining his position in the top ten whilst anticipating further success for many years to come.
